 About Antoine L. Dunn

“Every part of a person’s soul and heart is an expression of music; we walk to a divine rhythm that is defined by ones heart.” Antoine Levar Dunn Smooth and soulful are words that both describe Antoine Levar Dunn the man and his music. Dunn’s sound is a reflection of a style that is timeless. Donnie Hathaway, Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles have all served as sources of inspiration for Dunn’s music; contemporary soul artists like Anthony Hamilton, John Legend, Music Soul Child, and Heather Headely round out the myriad of styles from which he draws. Like many of these legends, Antoine L. Dunn is a multi-faceted artist; in addition to being an accomplished vocalist, pianist and songwriter, Dunn taught himself to play the drums and base guitar as well.

When playing live, Dunn is accompanied by his band, “Vibe,” but many of his recorded songs are solely his own production—from the music, the lyrics, the vocals, and all of the instrumentation. Dunn is the epitome of the one-man band. From a very young age, Antoine L. Dunn’s musical genius was fostered by his aunt, Veronica Dunn, a professional gospel artist. His craft was further developed while traveling with the Wiley Middle School Challenge Choir, directed by Maestro Glenn Brackens; under Maestro Brackens tutelage, Dunn was awarded the Best Soloist Award at the National Musical Showcase (2002). His journey continued as a Cleveland Heights High student, where he performed and traveled with four choral groups throughout the United States and the Bahamas. By the age of 17, Dunn was bestowed the opportunity to be the Cuyahoga Community Church’s Minister of Music, where he directed for three years. In recent months Dunn has continued his evolution. In March of 2009, he was hired as a Songwriter for the Dallas based-company, Love Songs for Sale.

In May of 2009, Dunn received vocal production credits on Lakisha Jones’ (2007 American Idol Finalist) freshman album. At this point in his career, Antoine L. Dunn is poised and ready for further challenges, opportunities and continued growth. “Music isn’t what I do, it’s who I am. I feel it is my professionalism, my uniqueness and commitment to my music that makes me stand alone. Coming out of a city saturated with rap, I am moved to bring passion and authenticity back to music. I want to make music that all people can be proud of. As for me, my song, "Choose Or Get Chossz," says it all: Give me a chance and I’ll take the world by storm—just wait and see.”
