Story Behind Song

Shawn said, "Smiley's was written for a fictional club where you could go & relax. Kind of a Cheers for Gen X.

It's about how hectic life is & I kind of saw that complexity in the amount of cards I had in my pocket at the time - cards to do this, cards to get in certain places, cards that said who I was & I saw them as a symbol of the age we're in. Then I thought about my ugly car & parking fines & the rest came together pretty easily."
